A 7.0-magnitude earthquake rocked the island of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Sunday (8/5/2018). According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake was felt at 18:46 p.m. local time with an epicenter located 18 kilometers southwest of East Lombok with a depth of 15 km. Deep sorrow felt by the people who lost relatives and property.
There were thousands of people who had to be evacuated. Around 200.000 people live in northern Lombok, a mountainous region according to the 2010 census. The government estimates of 20.000 people are in need of assistance, with around 80% of buildings destroyed.
The hearts of Indonesian people are moved to alleviate the suffering they experience by sending aid including TRIPATRA along with Indika Foundation that provides assistance and raises funds from Insan TRIPATRA. The funds that collected will be used for daily needs such as foods, blankets, tarps, baby milk, medicines and other necessities.
In addition to providing material assistance, TRIPATRA sent 15 volunteers consisting of IEG (Indika Energy Group) personnel on Tuesday (08/28/2018) to tells stories to children in Lombok, provide counselling in the post-traumatic stage and to provide health services for victims and they will return on Saturday (09/01/2018).
